Corkage questioned

As a result of a letter which appeared in the Bulletin last week, we have received some information from a member of the public who clarified a point for us. Our correspondent 'The Gourmet Club' was appalled at the standard of many Ohakune restaurants and singled out one where he was charged $7.50 for corkage. According to the person who phoned us such a charge is against the law and a fine of up to $100 may be imposed. Amendment Number Five of the Sale of Liquor Regulations 1963, says that 50 cents is the maximum amount that unlicensed restaurants can charge per bottle for corkage. Such practices of charging say 50 cents per person is certainly also against the law. The regulations do not mention flagons or wine casks, only bottles. What, therefore, would be the corkage on a wine cask?
