Commodore visits Waiouru

The Commodore Auckland, Commodore L.J. Tempero RNZN, visited HMNZS Irirangi at Waiouru on 26 ,and 27 September 1984 tovconduct a formal inspection. He took part in a Formal Mess Dinner in Irirangi on 26 September which was also attended by the Mayor of Ohakune Mr W. Taylor, Commander ATG Col. B. Meldrum, Commanding

Officer Irirangi Lt Cdr R.G.G. Sanson RNZN and Ohakune's Parish Priest Father Neil Wilson. The following day he toured HMNZS Irirangi and visited the new Army Officers' Mess. In the course of the inspection the Commodore inspected a parade of Irirangi personnel. The Commodore's inspection coincided with a visit to Irirangi by the Band of the Royal New Zealand Navy. The band played for the parade and later gave a

concert in the Ohakune Primary School. That night the band provided the musical accompaniment at Irirangi's annual Ships Company Ball.
