ACCIDENT KILLS WANGANUI MAN

A 31-year-old Wanganui man died instantly on Friday 21 September when his car failed to take the corner outside Berry's Farm on State Highway 4 just past the Ohakune turnoff. A post mortem showed that Kelvin Thorald Floyd, died through a massive loss of blood caused by a stake which pierced his throat. The car, which ended up on its roof, crashed through a fence taking two strainer posts and 50 feet of fencing with it, rolled several times before coming to rest in a paddock. Police have inspected the vehicle for tyre or brake defects which they were unable to find. Their assumption is that excessive speed may have contributed to the accident. Floyd, who was the only occupant of the car, is survived by his wife Karen and children, Chantell, Brienne and Adrian.
