Future of former tearooms still uncertain
Former patrons of the Sahara tea-rooms on the main road in Waiouru may well be wondering what has happened to the restaurant that previously operated on these premises. Up until about six weeks ago, the tea-rooms were rented by Mr and Mrs
McPherson, but recent changes to the terms of the lease of the property meant that it was no longer a profitable arrangement for Mr and Mrs McPherson to continue running the business. As yet, no further details have been available from the
owrier, believed to be a Wellington business man, but concern was expressed at a recent Waiouru Advisory Community Committee meeting, over the unsightly and empty state of this building and 'several other business frontages in the main road area.
