War games

The Waimarino Peace Group was originally set up to promote local awareness of the peaceful alternatives to impending nuclear confrontation andtohelp establish a nuclear-weapons free New Zealand. To this ultimate end we would like to call a meeting to discuss local reaction and possible action at the ANZUS alliance 'war games' at Waiouru 9-14 October which we see as a violation of the new spirit of an independent New Zealand. If we become apathetic and 'physically numbed' we face as much danger from our inability to fully comprehend the global crisis as from the missiles themselves. It's bad to hear National's Sue Wood, Jim McLay and former Defence Minister Thompson becoming political pawns in the face of possible trade-bans from big brother. Are there any people interested enough in Ohakune to stand up or are we all too snowed under taking care of business? The meeting will be this Tuesday 25 September at 7.30pm at Errol Vincent's home in Tainui St. (See Public Notice).
