Children enjoy 'historic' medieval sleep-in

Principal Dave McRae's class of Standard 3 and 4 pupils along with parent helpers Alice Martin and Kevin Murcott hosted a 'sleep-in' at National Park School on Tuesday 14 August. For these pupils it was a climax to their medieval studies, which the whole school had actively participated in throughout the past

4 weeks. Complete with lattice patterned windows, room 3 classroom resembled a huge castle on Tuesday evening. Maidens bedecked in long dresses and knights bearing shields and swords were all guests of the medieval King, Queen and the Black Knight. The three-course candlelight banquet, was a joyous

feast for all. Games and skits followed and the 'sleep-in' concluded with bedtime stories and supper. The girls slept in the library and the boys slept in Room 4. One youngster when asked what he had learnt, replied "I learnt that Mr Murcott snores and he kept me awake all night." Linda Pakau-Bowring
