RUAPEHU COLLEGE NEWS

TermThree has begun well for Ruapehu College with the remodelling of the front school and new buildings progressing well. The administration and ancillary staff are temporarily situated in the new bookroom and other offices while their old offices are being remodelled. The new Home Economics room has been completed and classes will move in next week. Beautification of the school gardens has taken place with the lining of the driveway at the front of the school and the planting of roses and rhododendrons along the driveway. Last Friday all Third and Fourth Form reports were sent home. The College has several new staff members this term. Replacing Mr Thomas Hawira as head of Maori language is Mr Enoka Munroe. Mr Munroe has also been a former advisor to many schools on Arts and Crafts. Mr Laurie Knight, who replaces Mr Jack McLean as the Engineering teacher comes to us from the Wairarapa where he was a dairy farmer. Recently appointed head of the Science department, replacing Mrs Dorothy Meredith, is Mr William Tailby who was formerly teaching at Kaitaia College.
