WHO NEEDS OIL
Due to pass through Waiouru today (Tuesday) for a refuelling stop will be a vehicle that will be needing petrol only ... oil should not be required if all goes well. In fact the vehicle — a standard Datsun Sunny — should not have to use engine oil at all for its 747km journey from Wellington to Auckland. The reason for this journey is to publicise the need for conserving energy and so reducing the running and maintenance costs of the average family motor vehicle by using a proprietary product and treaiment known as 'Slick 50'. It is also a fund-raising event to raise money for the Hearing Association. Television personality and motoring correspondent, Dougal Stevenson — will take a turn at the wheel. The Datsun Sunny will be arriving in Waiouru at 3.45pm and stopping at the Pinetree Motors / BP Service Station in Waiouru to answer questions about the 'Slick 50' treatment and the fund-raising event being run by Petrolon NZ Ltd.
