Council undecided on fencing

A suggestion that the Waimarino County Council adopt in principle a bylaw revision related to the fencing of swimming pools was defeated at a recent council meeting. The by-law revision is being prepared by the New Zealand Standards Association. Councillors — many of whom are farmers — argued that they would need to know more about what was contaied in the proposed legislation before agreeing to support it when it could, as some pointed out, include any area of water on their properties.
