Turoa Art Awards

One hundred and fifty entries were received for this year's Turoa Art Awards. Convenor of the awards, Mrs Bea Barnes of Ohakune expressed great satisfaction at both the number of entries and the increasing quality of entries. Mr and Mrs Tony Eden of the N.Z. Academy of Fine Arts from Wellington judged the entries at the Ohakune Club on Sunday where prizes were awarded Oil colour award, (sponsor Dalgety Crown) Judy Johnstone, Feilding. Runner-up Maurice Brooks, Ashhurst. Water colour award, (sponsor Junction Ski Shop) Adrienne Rewi, Ashhurst. Runner-up Celia Guy, Taihape. Any other medium, Bruce Canning, Wanganui. Runnerup Warwick Spencer, Ohura. Portraiture, Alan Copson, Marton. Runner-up Pauline Pritchard, Wanganui. First time entry award, (sponsor Waimarino Bulletin) Norma, Dalgleish, Wanganui. Runnerup Joan White, Feilding. Turoa Skifield award, (sponsor AHI Turoa) joint winners Peter Wall, Marton and Mrs Nives Cameron, Taumarunui. Premier award, (sponsors Ohakune Borough Council & T rusteebank Wanganui) Judy Johnstone, Feilding. This week (27 August to 1 September) the exhibition will be open to the public during the following hours: Monday to Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am -12noon.
