Music competition successes
Twelve of Mrs A. Greenwood's music pupils competed with some success at the Modern School of Music 's 1st Annual Compe-
titions held in Wanganui on Saturday 1 1 August. None of these pupils had competed in music competitions before and for some it was their first experience of playing before an audience. All performed creditably and received good marks and are to be congratulated whether they were placed in their classes or not. Pupils competing were: Kylie and Aaron Brebner, Rachael Chan, Helene Dobson, Catherine Donaldson, Jenny Frew, James Foster, Kathryn Diver, Margaret Olds, Richard Penny, Shanika Perera and Philippa Seebeck. Results Organ Classes: Judged by Mr Rodney Ealp ofNew Plymouth. 1012 years test; Helene Dobson 3rd. 13-15 years test; Philippa Seebeck 2nd, 3rd in Own Choice and Sightreading. Piano Classes: Judged by Mr Allan Gardiner of Blenheim. Modern: 9 & under; Jenny Frew 1st in test Own Choice and Sightreading, Class Trophy. 10-12 years test; Richard Penny 2nd, Margaret Olds 3rd, Own Choice Richard Penny 2nd, Margaret Olds 3rd, Sightreading Kathryn Oliver 3rd. Classical: 9 & under test; Shanika Perera 1st, James Foster 3rd. Own Choice Rachael Chan 2nd, Shanika Perera 3rd. Sightreading Rachael Chan 1st, James Foster 3rd. Class Trophy; winner on points Rachael Chan. 13-15 years; Catherine Donaldson 1st in test, Own Choice, Sightreading and Class Trophy.
