MENSWEAR SHOP FOR OHAKUNE

Martin Little of Taihape took over the family business five years ago. Littles of Taihape was founded as G.E. Little & Co Ltd by Martin's grandfather, George Edward Little, who had come out from Ireland, in 1913. In 1940 the business was acquired by Martin's father Jack who ran it for nearly 40 years. Until Martin acquired the business it had always been a

menswear shop on the present day site in. Taihape 's main thoroughfare, Hautapu Street. Over the last five years Martin has expanded the business. A branch selling women's clothes opened under the trading name of George Edward (Martin's grandfather) in Taihape and another branch now operates in Marton. The Cedar Mall branch will concentrate on mens

and boys wear ... "about 90%," said Martin Little, "but we will also have some unisex gear." Sue Pearson of Ohakune has been appointed as branch manager but Martin will also be spending a lot of time up here to help out with the extended hours — he hopes to be open every Saturday and perhaps even seven days a week for the next 4-5 weeks during the ski season.
