School rehearsals underway
Rehearsals for what has become an annual tradition at the Ohakune Primary School — a theatrical production — are currently underway. This year two plays are being performed — 'Snow White' and the play-within— play scene from Shakespeare's 'Midsummer Night 's Dream.' Under the direction of Ohakune Primary School principal, Mr Bill Taylor, both these plays are in rehearsal and will be performed in the first week of October. "We have to perform them before daylight saving starts in October so that we can capture the atmosphere of the theatre ... the smell of the grease paint and the roar of the crowd," he said. Mr Taylor has re-written the script of 'Snow White' to include as many pupils as possible in the production. At this particular rehearsal (pictured) Mr Taylor complimented the young cast — "all of them stars" — on their first performances.
