Information centre nearly ready
Work continues on the Ruapehu Region Information Centre office at 54 Clyde Street, Ohakune. The first information officer has been appointed. She is Miss Joanne Boyle, a former pupil of Ruapehu College. Joanne has spent the past few weeks renovating the interior of the information centre next door to the Bulletin. With painting completed and hessian cladding the walls the office is ready to be carpeted before opening. In the meantime Joanne is working from the Bulletin office handling day-to-day
enquiries and posting out brochures and information about the region in response to written requests. Having lived in Ohakune most of her life she knows the region and.many of its residents well. "That helps when it comes to getting information," she says. Joanne is compiling a tourism information resource library which will be available at the centre to anyone in the Ruapehu Region who has an interest in, or needs data on tourism and related activities. The centre will also act as the area information agency for the Automobile Association.
