Racing with BULLY

Many thanks to 'Gilly'for filling in last week. Yes Le Ana has been a little disappointing for us over recent weeks but we are hoping for better things very shortly. Getting a suitable race for her over her favourite distance of 2000 metres has been quite a problem. I did attend the first day of the recent Wellington meeting and that track was

extremely heavy and was made to measure for the Trentham specialist, Greek Meer. The Trentham mud has a consistency all of its own and some horses it suits while other noted mud larks are hopeless in it. Up north this Saturday sees Waikato racing at Te Rapa and from Cambridge I hear Tom Thumb and Dees Demand are both close to winning form, especially the former. Stay also with Little Vic. He had a stone bruise last week and was unable to start at Trentham, but he is* again jumping out of his skin with heavy tracks aplenty now, he will soon pay his winter oats account. Takanini has several stars at present relishing the softer tracks so watch for Starsun, Sunshot and Mrs Roper. The latter, Mrs Roper is our special for this week. Rangitikei Hunt Club race in the Central North

Island this week and dont be surprised if Naught Wol wins again. This fellow is trained at Feilding by Malcolm Smith who.thinks a lot of him. There are not many better judges around than this trainer. Awapuni has a good winter horse in Flying Tui while Crest Way would also be worth investing the tea money on. The jockey premiership is really great competition now and David Walsh still holds a lead of 2, leading Gary Phillips by 103 to 101. And with only 6 riding days left the excitement is fever pitch. The likely winner is anybody's guess. All credit must also go to the apprentice leader, Shane Dye from the Waikato. He is at present fourth with 72 winners, a truly great performance. Remember Bully tips them first ... and you have read it in the Bulletin.
