SQUASH

Ruapehu College teacher, John Laurenson, taught Ross Gillett a few lessons, in the Division One final of the Waimarino Squash Club's internal tournament last weekend. Laurenson showed fine form and was obviously the fitter of the two players, Gillett, on the: other hand, wore himself out in the first two games finding it difficult thereafter to combat the good length balls being played. Laurenson won 10/ 8, 5/9, 9/2, 9/6. It was pleasing to see so many juniors playing and all

performing well. Those to catch the eye were Robin Parata, Erin and Blair Workman, and Matthew Mowat, all of whom impressed spectators. Results Division One: J. Laurenson bt R. Gillett 10/8, 5/9, 9/2, 9/6. Plate: B. Johns bt G. Irwin9/4, 10/8,4/9,3/9, 9/1. Division Two: M. McGrath bt D. Newson. Plate: A. Irwin bt L. Todd. Division Three: K. Entwistle bt V. Pearce 9/2, 9/6, 9/5. Plate: S. Richardson bt C. Leary 9/3, 9/6, 6/9, 9/3. Junior Round Robins — Section One: Matthew Mowat 1st, Blair Workman 2nd. Section Two: Robin Parata 1st, Erin Workman 2nd.
