TUMBLER NEWS

The local gymnastics club, the Turoa Tumblers fielded its biggest ever contingent in competitions last weekend when 16 gymnasts travelled north for the Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay Gymnastics Championships held in Napier. Members returned home delighted with the club's showing and sporting a haul of 12 medals and 36 placing certificates. An outstanding performance gained Carys Hubbard an individual gold medal from 24 competitors in Grade Six. Other medal winners included Warren, Scott, (silver in grade four) and Helen Hubbard (silver in grade two). At this competition members of the Tumblers combined with other club gymnasts to form teams and took shares in a further nine medals, four of them golds. Teams Girls Grade 6: Carys Hubbard, Cindy Langdon, Christina Kennedy 3 bronze. Grade J.Tina Drayton, Suzanne Melbey (with Hastings) 2 bronze. Grade 2: Helen Hubbard, Janine Mcllroy (with Wellington) 2 gold. Boys Grade 5: Jeff Drayton, Allen Prince (with Napier) 2 gold.
