SOCCER
In a rather one-sided contest on Sunday, reminiscent of the previous day's election result, Waimarino United defeated Waikune Prison 20-4 at Ruapehu College. As ihe snow fell in great quantity, so too were shots fired in at the unfortunate Waikune goalkeeper who, contrary to the state of the scoreboard, had an excellent game. For Waimarino, Tom Ball continued his fine form of this season with another inspired captain's performance whilst John Laurenson, Jamie Dennison, James Waierea, and Gary McMillan also played well. An interesting substitution at half-time saw the father/son combination of
Tony and Chris Mosaed operating. What Tony iacked in pace, he made up in guile. Such a victory may be important should the competition be decided on goal difference. Scorers for Waimarino were G. McMillan 9, J. Waierea, R. Gill, J. Dennison, J. Laurenson, T. Ball 2, C. Mosaed, and an own goal. Waikune Prison: 'Gray' 3, 'Stretch' 1 .
