LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Netball Netballers, and the many people associated with the sport, are very unhappy with the attitude taken to the reporting of the sports news by our local newspaper. The Bulletin will only publish the netball draw if there is room and reports written weekly on the games which are taken to the office on Saturday afternoons, as instructed, cannot be submitted because the office is invariably closed. I hardly think that this is a fair deal for a sport involving several hundred local people. I note that mens' sport receives adequate coverage weekly, and feel a great deal of indignation at this blatant prejudice against netball. Lyn Dallison Editor's Note Readers will see in this week's issue a report from Saturday 's games at Ruapehu College. This we are able to do this week only because we are holding the paper over to the weekend to cover the election results.
We acknowledge that coverage of netball and many other games in the 'Bulletin' has been sparse. The reports written weekly by netballers and other sports codes have not been received by the newspaper over the weekend as our office is open Monday to Friday only from 9.00am - 5.00pm — the sign is on the door. However, we would like to receive any sports results from any code and people are welcome to either slip theirs under the door at the weekend or wait until Monday when most other sports results are received. We do not normally publish sports draws at all. If draws were to be printed, a considerable amount of editorial space, of interest to the general reader, would have to be used. However, if the sports codes could finda sponsor who could then advertise this feature regularly we will publish draws for all sports. Thanks to Community May I, through your paper, thank Mrs Wyn McCarthy, of Raetihi for arranging a fundraising coffee morning to assist my expenses foi the New Zealand Junior Hockey team's trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September. Thedonation of over $100 is very much appreciated. My thanks go to Mrs McCarthy and the many
friends who supported me so generously. I can assure them I will do my best for Raetihi, Wanganui and New Zealand. Again, thank you.
