College teacher returns to industry

Ruapehu College has lost the services of Mr Jack McLean who has left teaching to join the Winstone Samsung Pulp Mill at Karioi. Jack McLean arrived in Ohakune to teach metalwork, technical drawing and some 6th Form Certificate work at Ruapehu College in 1980. His own background in engineering was acquired . during service with the RNZAF and he has since taught at Waitakere College before coming to Ohakune.

Ruapehu College principal, Mr Mike Warbrick, said he was sorry to lose the services of Jack McLean under whose guidance the metalwork shop and technical drawing skills at the college have reached a very

high standard. Mr Warbrick said that he was very grateful for the temporary assistance he was receiving from the army until a permanent replacement for Mr McLean could be appointed.
