Waiouru Drapery under new management

Waiouru Drapery has been sold to Ken and Janet Dix who took over on the 1 June. Previously Mr and Mrs Dix were living in Auckland where Mrs Dix ran a Bistro in the Masonic Tavern at Devonport and Ken Dix was a self-employed carpenter. They are in the drapery business for the first time. Mrs Dix, who was brought up in Taihape also lived in Waiouru 20 years ago and Ken Dix did his basic training at Waiouru Army Camp in 1956. Waiouru Drapery was previously owned by Mr M. Heenan who first opened the business 33 years ago. When Ken and Janet Dix took over last month they found a rack of clo thing and shoes which is possibly part of the original stock with pounds and pence price tags on them. Television New Zealand will be approached to see if they would like some authentic clothing for their productions. The Waiouru Drapery

will shortly be having a clearance sale and they have already started restocking their shelves.

Ken and Janet Dix hope to give the Waiouru Community the service they may have lacked in the past.
