TAIHAPE COURT NEWS

The following cases were held in the Taihape District Court on Monday 18 June before Judge E.W. Unwin. David Zane Cadwallader,

21, shepherd of Ohakune, appeared for sentencing after previously being convicted in the Ohakune court on a charge of driving with an excess breath alcohol level and driving while disqualified on 17 March at Raetihi. He warned the defendent that a further appearance for driving while disqualified could result in his imprisonment. On the alcohol charge, Cadwallader was fined $500 and $250 with $40 court costs on the other charge and was disqualified from driving for a further twelve months commencing at the end of the current disqualification period. ★ ★ ★ Grace Poihoere Haitana, 5 1 , waitress of Waiouru and Franklyn Dennis McPherson 42, caterer of Waiouru were remanded to appear in court on 17 September for a defended hearing. Haitana was charged with receiving a colour television set and a video recorder valued at $3,000 between 4 February and 28 February this year. McPherson was charged with receiving a television set valued at $700 between 26 May and 30 June and also of receiving a television set and video recorder valued at $3,000 between 4 and 28 February.
