Ohakune remain unbeaten this season after their 16-7 win over Huia on Saturday 16 June while Bulls reversed their first round loss against Raetihi prevailing 15-9 in theThird Division. Waiouru improved 100% over their previous week's efforts by beating Utiku O.B. 30-10 to emerge as potential title coritenders in the Second Division. Kellick Harding, celebrating his elevation to

representative honours, played another excellent game at flanker with fellow Wanganui team-mate, Bruce Cranston also featuring. Ohakune led 13-0 at halftime and looked to have the game sewn up, then Huia collected seven points after the break and looked set to challenge Ohakune. However, tight play from the forwards ensured a victory. Lachlan Harding and Steve Gordon had outstanding games in the backline once

again. . Scorers: Ohakune — L. Harding and S. Gordon tries. Harding two penalties and Ray Brown conversion. Huia — W. Smith try and P. Hekenui penalty. Ohakune are looking championship potential and support from residents would be appreciated. On 30 June, they play Kaierau at home. Waiouru are also at home to Athletic with Raetihi travelling to Hunterville.

The weekend before last 15 members of the Ohakune branch of Nam Wah Pai Kung Fu travelled to Tauranga to participate in the 5th New Zealand Nam Wah Pai Tournament. The students found this to be a totally new experience, as the Ohakune branch was started only in September last year. The trip was an extremely successful one — not only

because of the number of trophies which returned to Ohakune, but also because the students had a unique opportunity to see and meet the Master of Nam Wah Pai, sim Poh Kok, who came to New Zealand from Singapore for the first time. The students also met for the first time other students and instructors from Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Te Puke and Mount Maunganui. It was very pleasing to see the fighting but sporting spirit emerge in our Ohakune students, who learned a great deal from the experience. The basis of Nam Wah Pai training after reaching lst degree Black Belt level is an internal powfer. Demonstrations of this power

were given which have never been seen in New Zealand before. Some of these were repeated at a training session here in Ohakune last Tuesday night. The tournament is an annual event held in Tauranga each June, and it is hoped that this will be the first of many contingents from the Ohakune branch of Nam Wah Pai to experience the demanding but exciting atmosphere of the tournament. Trophies were won by the following club members: V. Bidwell (lst, Women's Sparring), J. Vincent (3rd, Women's Sparring), P. Greenwood (2nd, Peewee Sparring), S. Taylor (3rd, Peewee Sparring), Dean Monk (3rd, Open Kata).
