This photo taken at the Raetihi-Ohakune Rotary Club's weekly tea meeting on 6 June illustrates the result of a successful partnership between St Andrew's School, Tonga — a school prepared to help itself and a service club providing the opportunity. Tongan handcrafts made by the pupils and parents were shipped to New Zealand and sold here in the Waimarino by the service club. From the sale of Maire firewood, Rotary added a substantial sum of money. The result, this impressive array of working tools (worth about $2000) is the means by which trade skills can be taught to the pupils of St Andrew's. More tools are still needed so if you have any lying idle in your home they would be gratefully received.
