Another survey
This one is being undertaken by. Miss Erica Steele as her thesis for a Master of Arts degree in Recreation Administration at Victoria University. Erica Steele will be in Ohakune this week to distribute questionnaires to a broad range of age groups in each household. The questionnaires will take about 10-15 minutes to fill in and will allow residents of Ohakune to express their opinions about the effects of present and future tourism activity on the town. These opinions will then become part of the survey that will be made available to local authorities and other organisations including the Ohakune Borough Council, AHI Turoa Skifields, New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department. In this way the opinions of local residents can become part of the decision-making process when future tourism activity is being planned. The results of this survey will also be published in the Waimarino Bulletin as will the results of the other survey undertaken recently by Simon Arkwright of Canterbury University.
