CAR CRASH

Three third division Kaierau rugby players were injured on Saturday 26 May ... but not on the field of play. They were in one of four cars — two headed north and two south — which collided on the Parapara Road in front of the Raukawa Falls Store at 1.30pm. They were on their way to play rugby at Ohakune. Their car which collided with a Landrover was a 'write-off and their injuries

could have been more serious if they had not been wearing seatbelts. As it was they were taken to Wanganui by ambulance, treated for cuts and abrasions and discharged that evening. Their coach, Mr Lindsay Wheeler, who was driving the other northbound car involved in the accident commended the first-aid assistance given by Raukawa Falls Store owners after the accident while waiting for the ambulance. "They were fantastic," he said.
