Waimarino gymnast back from success in Hawaii

Warren Scott of Ohakune returned earlier this month from Hawaii with the successful New Zealand Intermediate Mens Gymnastic Team. The New Zealand team, comprising seven gymnasts and two coaches, competed against a Hawaiian team at Kaneohu (15 minutes from Honolulu) in temperatures of between 40° -44° celsius. Despite the heat the New Zealand team won by 'a comfortable margin' Another of the conditions the team had to adjust to was the sprung floor which gave the gymnasts an extra bounce. Warren said that he gained a lot of valuable experience during the 10 days the team were in Hawaii. The $ 1 ,600 trip was made possible for Warren by the generous donations from Ruapehu Lions, Turoa Tumblers and 'lots and lots' of other individuals and organisations. Warren would like to thank all the donors who helped to make up the deficit between his holiday job earnings and the total sum required.
