The scene last week at the base of the Turoa Skifield as the Parklane Chairlift is checked out after its annual overhaul. Not much chance of skiing on this rocky terrain but it was a similar picture at this time last year until the snows arrived. And when they did the whole Central Plateau was blanketed over Queen's Birthday Weekend... remember the snowmen that suddenly appeared on front lawns and beside roadsides in the Waimarino. Hopefully next weekend will be a repeat of last year's timely introduction to the ski season. For more news about the 1984 ski season turn to pages 4-5.
