Racing with BULLY

This week we see racing on the Opaki course at Masterton and it is interesting to note that the argument as to which course in the Wairarapa is to survive has not yet been finally answered. Tauherenikau, Carterton and Masterton have been advised that one racecourse only should operate in that area and as expected there have been sdme very parochial arguments put forward in favour of each. It would really be a shame to see the very picturesque Tauherenikau track go under. There would also be many Wellingtonians sad if this one misses out. It is a great occasion for them to come over to this

particular track at Featherston and to make a picnic day of it. Rotorua races in the nothern area and if she lines up I would suggest you save a dollar for Madam Fox. Others nearly ready to win would include Nicolove, Caurnie and Zephyr Souba. Our man in the Waikato is still wrapped in Resolution for the Great Northern Steeples and also claims he will win the Waikato as well. You will know all about that by the time you read this column. Masterton could be Kar Dan's big chance and Colman could take a liking to the long straight at Opaki. If the track is at all soft Estee could show up and its odds would be good. Peak was a disappointmept at Trentham but if he lines up at Masterton it could be a different story so don't drop him yet ... the first leg could be his. Gary Phillips now has a lead of five over David Walsh but there is still a long way to go in the jockey premiership although it does appear that the rest of the field is starting to feel the pinch and dropping away. One for Rotorua ... Call Me Stumpy. Remember Bully tips them first, and you will read all about them in the Bulletin.
