RED CROSS APPEAL
The 1984 Annual Red Cross Appeal was held on Saturday 5 May. Voluntary collectors visited most of both Raetihi and Ohakune. The Waimarino Branch benefited from the appeal with donations of $763.54. Of this $587.76 was donated from the people of Ohakune and the rest came from Raetihi. This is a fine total and the local branch is very grateful to the support shown to it by the community. Some of this money is sent to National Headquarters for use in emergency situations throughout New Zealand and overseas, but the rest is kept in this district to be used locally. People are reminded that if they were out when the collector called or still wish to contribute, donations can be left in the chemist shops and the Wanganui Savings Bank in both Ohakune and Raetihi. The Branch would also like to thank those people who assisted with the collection in both towns.
