Comments invited
Following press statements I by P.P.T.A. spokespeople that the Minister of Education had indicated that there would be five to I six months for public discussion of the Core Curriculum discussion docI ument, and that he had told I members of the Working Party that the group would be reconvened after his group of principals had commented on the draft document, the Minister has subsequently denied that he had given either of these undertakings. This important report brings together for the first time in one statement, proposals about the weightings that should be given to the core studies and activities in primary and secondary schools. Its recommendations have considerable implications for schools. Teachers and members of the public are now invited to send their
comments on the report by 1 June 1984, to Core Curriculum Review, Department of Education, Wellington. Our Branch has intimated its dissatisfaction with the deadline of 1 June 1984 and we would invite members of the public to send their comments expressing similar disapproval either as individuals or groups directly to the Minister of Education. I.N. Meredith Branch President P.P.T.A.
