Easter weekend gym clinic

Fifteen young female gymnasts from all over New Zealand spent Easter Weekend attending a junior development clinic at the Ruapehu College and Community Gymnasium in Ohakune. Aged from 11-15 they came from Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Kaitaia, Whangarei, Nelson, Wanganui, Te Puke, New Plymouth, Whakatane and Hokitika to be coached in one of the most up-to-date gymnasiums in the country. All the girls, members of the New Zealand Gymnast Association's Junior Development Group, are potential regional and national champions. The young gymnasts received advice and instruc-

tion from a team of coaches from other centres headed by Martin Gotz of Auckland • and included TuroaTumbler coaches Glyn and Wendy Hubbard. Among the very advanced equipment available at the Ruapehu College and Community Gymnasium is the newfoam-filled dismounting pit which is now fully operational and which was a major factor in having the clinic held in Ohakune. The girls all stayed at Ohakune's TASCI Lodge for the long weekend and got to know each other socially ... "which was great because they would be meeting one another in various competitions all over the country in future years," said Glyn Hubbard.
