MAYOR ISSUES PUBLIC INVITATION

Mr John Scott, newly appointed principal of the Wanganui Regional Community College will visit the district tonight (Tuesday). Accompanied by two or three members of his staff, he has kindly agreed to speak to all interested persons at 7.30pm in the senior studies block at Ruapehu College. One of my prime purposes in standing for election to the Council of the Community College was to do all possible to ensure that the effect of this invaluable educational establishment was

indeed regional in concept and scope. During the early stages of development of the College it is imperative that a regional input be available to those who will guide the growth of the institution. Saying what we want here and now and. of course, for the future is crucial at this time. I see the scope of this input as touching on both vocational training as it applies to the needs of our area and, also, non-vocational interest and hobby courses. We have a stake in the Regional Community Col-

lege. Let's make the most of it. It is important that as many people as possible from our wider community attend this meeting, listen to what the College means to us and what, hopefully, it may offer. In return I do know they would like to hear our views. This letter represents a broad and open invitation to attend. To those who are local body leaders, please ensure it is brought to the notice of your councillors and officers. To those who are involved in service clubs, please encourage your

members to attend. To principals of schools, please encourage staff to attend and inform members of P.T.A. and School Committees/ Board of Governors. To all to whom this letter is addressed, your interest in the work of the Wanganui Regional Community College is either known or anticipated. Do come to the meeting. Do draw to the .lon of others who ma> interested, the importance of the occasion.

W.

Taylor
