Red Cross Week

Th? Waimarino Branch of Red Cross has a number of projects underway at present. First aid posts • are still being maintained on the highway north of Raetihi. The bedding bank operated by the branch has emergency bedding available whenever it may be needed. A first aid kit is being prepared for • placement in the Ruapehu College Community Gymnasium, where it will be available to users of the gym and will be maintained by the branch. The branch also hopes to

begin offering First Aid' courses in the district, beginning in Raetihi later this year once the necessary equipment needed to run such a course has been purchased. During Red Cross week, a display will be mounted in the Wanganui Savings Bank in Ohakune to show some of the activities of the Red Cross Society in the Waimarino and in New Zealand. Red Cross is a voluntary organisation which relies on local support in all its activities.
