'FAMILY' THEME FOR RAETIHI PLAYCENTRE WEEK

National Playcentre Week was" celebrated at Raetihi Playcentre from 11 to 17 April. The theme of the week was 'Families' with the emphasis on the extended family. The Raetihi Playcentre is only permitted twenty-two children per session and currently holds three sessions per week. They are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9. 1 5 to 11 .45 with Monday's being for the four and five year olds with Tuesday's and Thursday's for the infants through to five year olds.

Venetia Fredericksen, the Promotions and Information Officer, says that the waiting list of children wishing to attend the Playcentre is causing great concern. There are currently twenty-nine families on the roll. The situation will improve however, as there are two mothers training at present to become supervisors. This will mean that an additonal session can added, probably on Wel^B nesday mornings. A shop day will be held on 3 May to raise funds for the Playcentre.
