Leaving Waiouru
Waiouru, being the place it is, doesn't have too many permanent or long-term residents. It is soon to lose another well-known couple who have made their mark, guided thousands of Waiouru children through their early education and will be greatly missed when they head south next week. Maurice and Lois Trail are leaving Waiouru for Feilding where Maurice is to take up an appointment as ^^-incipal of the 600-plus ^B^tton • Street Primary School. Mr and Mrs Trail came from Turangi eight years ago when he was appointed as Principal of the Waiouru School. At that time the school roll was large enough
to support a principal on his seniority and scale. However, since the school roll has now dropped to about 510 pupils Maurice, who has been in the teaching service for the past 36 years, has to move to a school with a larger number of pupils. For the past year Lois Trail has workeid as clerical assistant at the Waiouru Primary School. They have enjoyed their eight years in Waiouru and wouldn't be moving away unless they had to. Both have been very much involved in community affairs during their stay in Waiouru and hope to maintain contact with the friends and colleagues they have made.
