Studying impact of Turoa Skifield

Simon Arkwright is presently in the Waimarino researching his study of the Impacts of Turoa Skifield. He has been conducting surveys amongst the business community of both Raetihi and Ohakune and is also surveying local residents in Ohakune, Raetihi and Rangataua. His research is proceeding quite well and he has been very pleased with the response to his surveys. He said that this was especially gratifying considering the

number of studies made of Ohakune in the last few years. Simon intends to stay in the Waimarino until the beginning of May. He will

then travel back to Christchurch where he is attending university but will return in August to conduct a survey of the skier population at the height of the season.
