Horses need 'winter woollies'

An appeal has been made from Reefton, in the South Island, to horse and pony lovers in the Waimarino, for any spare horse blankets and covers. 'Horsehaven' — a home for any unwanted horses — require covers urgently for the coming winter. They have so many horses ranging in size from 9-17 hands that there is always some horse to fit a cover. When 'Horsehaven' was started — to save horses being slaughtered for petfood — new covers cost $ 1 0. Now they range around $90. The address to send your spare blanket or canvas cover to is: Horsehaven, PO Box 43, Reefton.
