ANNUAL TUROA ART COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
For the sixth year in succession the Turoa Art Exhibition is to be held in Ohakune again later this year. This annual art prize and exhibition has attracted a large and growing number of paintings, drawings and prints from local and central North Island artists — last year the boundary for contributors was extended to include Hamilton in the north and Levin in the south and these will remain the same this year. With the exhibition still some months away detailed planning is far from finalised but it has been established that Bea and Dorothy Barnes of Kunikraft have agreed to coordinate the exhibition again this year. The Turoa Art Exhibition committee is at present seeking sponsors and donations so that the value of the prizes can be announced in order to attract entries.
Last year the committee were able to have some display screens built thanks to generous donations from members of the public and local businesses. This year it is hoped that similar donations will provide an additional display screen and some spotlights to improve the viewing of the exhibits. For further information about this year's Turoa (Ohakune) Art Prize and Exhibition, contact Duncan Harvey at Harris, Tansey and Harvey or Bea and Dorothy Barnes at Kunikraft.
