Last week we published a photograph of the manual telephone exchange at the Ohakune Post Office which this week switches over to an automatic STD and ISD exchange. This is the compact new equipment which replaces the manual exchange. The old exchange will now only be staffed by operators to handle enquiries and operator-assisted toll calls. They will also answer emergency 111 calls.
