Most racegoers would be pleased to see Jon return to the winner's circle at Tauranga last week. Trained by Jim Gibbs at Matamata, the 5-year old gelding by Le Fripon out of Maximarch has had a chequered past season and although his track work had indicated he was almost back to his best form; luck seemed to be against him. at Tauranga and the filly finished well behind the place-getters although she had a good run. Now one beayng does not deserve her being written off but next time out, the betting public would be advised to be cautious. Those of you who stuck to Lord Trappeur and Coronal at Awapuni will be counting the gold all the way to the bank. There could be more yet too. Working well at

Feilding at present is Princess Dan while at Woodville those to impress include Fidji and Gossip. One who is setting tongues a-wagging is Avawish from the Awapuni stable of Malcolm Smith while Rye will only need to face the starter to put more cash in the bank.
