PONY CLUB
The Otiranui property of Mr L. Roke was the venue for the third and final Area Trials run by the King Country Area Pony Club on 25 March. Perfect weather ensured a most successful day with three competitors in the A. 1 . Section, eleven in the D.C. Section and four others bringing the total number of competitors in the open section to 18. There was a further Novice Section of eleven riders. Five local Pony Club members rode during the day, the most successful being Michelle Eades on Arran, who was fourth in the Novice Dressage and third Novice overall. Phillipa Tebay and Svena Taylor and their ponies acted as runners bringing in the Cross Country judges sheets, thus helping the secretary to process results quickly. There was a lot of interest in the vegetable raffle, the vegetables being donated by Brian Eades, Frank Taylor and Ray Wilson. There was good support from local spectators and it is hoped that similar support will be had at the forthcoming gymkhanas at
Rangataua on 7/8 April ... particularly from local riders on Sunday 8 April. The New Zealand Pony Club Championships are to be held in Rotorua on May 10, 11 and 12. The team is: Nadine Taylor, Joanne Tompkins and Tania Tompkins with Vivienne Taylor as reserve in the A. 1 Section and David Wilson, Lisa Weir and Marran McGlade with Susan Walters reserve in the D.C. Section.
