HISTORIC OCCASION

For the first time in Ohakune, and perhaps New Zealand, a mixed congregation of about 50 Catholics and Anglicans joined in a service to commemmorate the 14 stations of the Cross. This historic occasion took place when Ohakune's parish priest, Father Neal Wilson and assistant parish

priest, Father Bernie Vella, joined with Anglican minister, the Reverend Bob Peck, in the observance of this ceremony at the St Joseph's Catholic Church on Sunday 18 March. The revised stations of the cross were depicted this year by the batik prints of local artist Mrs Merrilyn George.
