Racing enthusiast joins staff

Rod Gifl, who has recently joined the Waimarino Bulletin staff in Ohakune, is also a keen horse racing enthusiast. During a recent visit to Waverley he visited Snow Lupton's property and posed with the $12,000 Melbourne Cup and its 1 983 winner, Kiwi. Rod, who comes from Auckland is a compositor by trade and has been associated with newspapers for most of his working life including 20

years at the New Zealand Herald. Whilst at the Herald he was layout co-ordinator for the features and supplements sections. At the Waimarino Bulletin he is Advertising and Production manager with a roving commission between Waiouru, Taihape, Raetihi, Ohakune, Nationql Park and Taumarunui. He also prepares the camera-ready artwork and puts the paper together each week ready for the printer.
