Less than last year

Funds collected in this year's annual Salvation Army 'Red Shield' appeal were slightly down on last year, according to Edith Beavis, collection co-or-dinator for the Ohakune/ Rangataua area for the past few years. $448 was collected this year compared with over $500 last year. She attributes this to the fewer collectors and the shorter evenings following reversion to Standard Time the weekend before. Mrs Beavis would like to thank the public for their donations and the collectors for their help. She would also like to mention that while the door-to-door appeal is now closed, donations can still be left with the BNZ' or with Ohakune Photo-Pharmacy.
