SEQUEL TO RAETIHI SHOOTING

At last week's High Court trial in Wanganui, Grant Kevin Enright, 27, unemployed of Raetihi, was found not guilty on grounds of insanity following a shooting incident almost exactly a year ago. On 11 March last year Grant Enright wounded his mother Mrs Ruth Enright in the thigh when he discharged a shotgun in their home in Islington Street, Raetihi, soon after his return from Australia. Grant Enright had previously received psychiatric treatment and was on medication. The jury of five women and seven men took less than an hour to find him not guilty of deliberately wounding his mother and not guilty but insane for discharging a shotgun with reckless disregard for hg«* safety. He was committed as a patient to the Lake Alice Hospital near Marton.
