Accident fatality in bush
For the second time in three weeks there has been a fatal accident involving a Waimarino man during treefelling operations in the bush. Last Friday Frances Tewhetu Allen, 31 of Pipiriki was killed when he was working in one of Winstone Afforestation blocks near the north Mangaeturoa Road west of Raetihi. The accident occurred at about 8 a.m. when two trees were brought down by a tangle of connecting supplejacks when only one was being felled.
