Adult reading group to be formed
An adult Reading Assistance Group is to be set up in the Waimarino when a meeting of all those interested in teaching reading and writing is called on Tuesday 20 March. The purpose of forming the group is to help those people in the community who cannot read, spell or | write by offering a personal and confidential one-to-one learning opportunity to achieve their own goals, said Community Education organiser for the TaihapeRuapehu REAP scheme Mr
Dennis Paxie. "It may be fairly elementary — possibly to sit a written driving test, to read a recipe or do the shopping," said Dennis Paxie, but from such modest beginnings a wider interest in reading could develop. Anyone in the community who would be interested in hearing more about this group is invited to attend a meeting in the Ohakune Primary School staffroom on Tuesday evening 20 March at 7.30pm.
