Rangataua reprise

Rangataua! Every time I drive past the place I put my hands over my eyes and pretend it's not there. It needs a bomb under it. These words were quoted to me by the Waimarino County weed inspector the other day when I asked him when something was going to be done about the weed problem in Rangataua. This seems to be the general attitude of the County Council towards Rangataua and we, the ratepayers and residents, have had enough of it. With an increase in building and a substantial increase in rates we still get nothing done. Street lighting and drains are inadequate and two streets namely Kaka Street and Miharo Street are, and always have been, in a shocking state of repair, especially in the winter when they become a mass of potholes. With the closure of the Rangataua dump we now have a rubbish problem which in the winter months is increased by the influx of skiers and holiday makers. Rangataua is and will keep on growing in size and it is no good the Waimarino County trying to evade the issue. We have been pushed aside for too * long. We want something done in Rangataua. Promises and big talk are no longer acceptable.
