Racing with BULLY

There are some interesting entries in the fields for this Saturday in the lower half of the island. Several that make a lot of appeal are Prince Chardon and General Fripon both of whom gave very creditable performances recently at Egmont. General Fripon won and did it very nicely too, giving the impression that there could quite easily be another win there before long. Prince Chardon finished second in the Egmont first leg, only just failing to catch the tear — a-way pacemaker Gee Jay. A stride past the judge and he was in front. Watch this fellow when he next steps out. Other central horses who are at present in form include Shazaam and

First^jovereign was unlucky to be just headed by Zim Zam at Trentham on the last day down there. Amongst the sprinters I would expect early wins from Veras Pal and Nampa. We all know how speedy Veras Pal is and it could be that this horse could be in for a very good season. Others to catch the eye are Both Barrels and Hazearay. The former picked up a win recently with a dazzling performance for, after being almost knocked completely out of the race, made a great recovery and with Maree Lyndon in the saddle came home at one hundred miles an hour to snatch victory right on the line. Waikato also races this

week and several to stay with here including Leading Seaman, Lord Vegas and Sailorman while Janets Boy and Temerity would not be Without chances. The jockey of the moment in the north is surely Shane Dye and don't be surprised if David Peake starts saluting the judge far more regularly from now on after a particularly lean spell. His three winners on the last day at Trentham must have given him just the tonic he was looking for. Vera Lyn is still working very nicely at Feilding and several here in the Waimarino are eagerly awaiting her to step out on race day. Just remember ... Bully tips them first and you will read it in the Bulletin.
